Kricket and Bridgette graduated from Beginning Cake Decorating class today. Our family from Oregon arrives tonight and now we’ve got two great looking cakes to greet them! The girls LOVED the classes and are eager to add their new skills to our family celebrations! Do you have a favorite cake decorating frosting recipe – one that can be piped for flowers, borders, etc.? The class required them to make the Wilton recipe – loaded with Crisco, which was darn close to painful for me. I’ve found a couple of alternate recipes online, but we’d be thrilled to make your tried & true favorites our new favorites!!

So wonderful!! Carrie has a whipped cream frosting and butter based frosting recipe! We used to make all our kids birthday cakes for their parties!!! Started with Wilton pans and progressed to created shapes like the space shuttle! I made Carrie her favorite cherry chip cake with her favorite character...Snoopy.....as the Red Baron, on his dog house. Fun, fun, fun!!!!
Love it! My second basic cake decorating class is this Saturday and I need to make icing for it and am loathe to do it because of the shortening. I usually use butter and maybe milk and powdered sugar, but we were warned beyond all doubt to NEVER use butter. But I hate shortening! :) I'm thinking I'm going to go ahead and make my own recipe, anyway. I hope they don't yell at me. :) Your girls' cakes look beautiful and yummy!!! Congratulations to them! :)
Hey Tami! Thanks for your comment! I've had fun catching up over here--made me realize how long its been and how I've missed reading what you're up to. Love that your girls took this class--what a great skill to share! Congratulations on your ordination too! Hope all else is well!
